INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Hundreds of people walked along the canal Sunday to raise awareness about HIV and Aids.
The Indy AIDS Walk raises money for the Indiana AIDS Fund with live entertainment, a pet “pit stop” and of course a walk downtown.
All the money stays in Indiana to support Hoosiers living with AIDS and to help pay medical bills.
“HIV is still around in Indiana. A lot of people think that it’s gone and it isn’t,” said Kyle Bonham, Indy AIDS Walk Co-chair. “Like I said 12 thousand Hoosiers with HIV right now and a lot of expenses they have aren’t covered individuals health insurance so we’re here to make sure that those individuals have the resources that they need to get in care, stay in care, and stay healthy.”
The goal today was to raise $225,000.
